ALCOHOL
At events open to the public or any event where liquor is sold. Under Ohio law, selling is defined to include events where liquor is included within the admission price. Fundraisers where alcohol is served require a permit. Private Parties do not require a permit. See PRIVATE PARTIES.

Host Liquor Liability where no sale is involved is automatically provided under the Diocesan Master Insurance Program. If a permit is required for sale of alcohol at the event, the Diocesan Master Insurance Program will extend Liquor Liability coverage to your event upon receipt of your temporary permit and premium payment of $110.
AMUSEMENTS
All trampoline or rebounding devices, dunk the dollys, and certain inflatables where the participant’s feet leave the surface or their body is otherwise jerked off-balance.
Amusement operators must hold a valid license from the Ohio Department of Agriculture and provide a certificate of insurance evidencing at least $1,000,000. Each Occurrence Liability coverage and naming the parish / institution, Diocese, and Bishop as Additional Insureds. They must also provide evidence that they carry Workers’ Compensation coverage for injury to their employees.
It is common for the rental company to contract with you to deliver and set-up the inflatable, but leave it for you to operate. The rental company must still have a valid license from the Ohio Department of Agriculture and provide a certificate evidencing at least $1,000,000. Each Occurrence Liability coverage and naming the parish / institution, Diocese, and Bishop as Additional Insureds. However, in these situations you are assuming the responsibility to operate the device, so their insurance will not apply to your negligence. The rental company should deliver and set-up the inflatable and is required under Ohio law to train those who will operate the device. All volunteers who will supervise the use of the inflatable, must attend this training session. Adult supervision is required during use of the inflatable, and any rules posted on the inflatable must be followed. Any contracts with the rental company must be signed by a parish / institution official, not a volunteer.
AUTO
Any licensed driver over the age of 21 can drive parish / institution vehicles with your permission. It is incumbent on you to make sure they have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and are using the vehicle within the scope of your permission.

The Diocesan Master Insurance Program provides Liability coverage for vehicles rented and operated by individuals on its behalf. Thus it is not necessary to purchase Liability coverage on the vehicle offered by the rental company.
The Diocesan Master Insurance Program does not provide Physical Damage coverage on rental vehicles. Physical Damage coverage on a rental vehicle should be purchased from the rental company. New language has been added to many rental agreements that hold the renter personally responsible for lost rental income while the vehicle is being repaired and for the potential diminished value of a vehicle even after it has been repaired. This substantial new exposure is not covered by traditional auto policies.
Decline the Liability Insurance; Always Buy the Physical Damage coverage from the rental company.
BOILER / EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN
An accident involving Mechanical Breakdown, artificially generated electrical current, explosion, or bursting, cracking, or splitting of covered equipment.
Equipment that generates, transmits or utilizes energy, including electronic communications and data processing equipment. Commonly thought of equipment are your boilers, HVAC systems, computers, and telephone systems.

CLAIM REPORTING
All claims – Property, Auto, Injuries, Employment Related should be reported the Diocesan Property/Casualty Insurance Office at Claim & Exposure Reports.
The Property adjuster can also be reached at (330) 524-7228. Always take reasonable steps to secure the property from further damage, until the adjuster is available to direct clean-up and repairs.
CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS
Contracts can only be signed by an authorized official of the parish or institution. Signing a contract commits the parish / institution and insurable liabilities assumed flow to the Diocese and Bishop via the Self-Insured portion of the Diocesan Master Insurance Program. Assumption of liability must be taken seriously.

FESTIVALS
If you comply with Ohio liquor laws and obtain the necessary temporary permit, the Diocesan Master Insurance Program will provide $1,000,000 of liquor liability insurance. The cost for one event is $110. To request coverage, send a copy of your liquor permit to the Diocesan Property/Casualty Insurance Office.
Any type of trampoline or rebounding device is excluded under the Diocesan Master Insurance Program. Due to the nature of inflatables, determining what is a rebounding device can be subjective, so the general rule is that devices where the participant’s feet leave the surface or their body is otherwise jerked off-balance are prohibited. You can call the Diocesan Property/Casualty Insurance Office for a specific determination. See AMUSEMENTS section.
PROPERTY
All buildings and contents owned by, and listed on, your location Property Schedule are covered on a replacement cost basis.
Unlike many commercial insurance policies, the Diocesan Master Insurance Program provides coverage for flood and sewer back-up. Water escaping from your plumbing system because of a burst pipe or other failure is also covered.
Any new construction and major renovations should be reported to the Diocesan Property/Casualty Insurance Office prior to commencement. Builder’s Risk coverage may be required and if so, the Diocesan Master Insurance Program can arrange it.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special Event coverage only provides host liquor liability at private events where there is no sale involved, typically at weddings. If a temporary permit is required or a charge of any kind is made, Liquor Liability is excluded under the Special Event policy. It is incumbent on the third party to provide evidence of their permit along with $1,000,000 of liquor liability insurance.
Yes, parish sponsored events are covered under the Diocesan Master Insurance Program. If alcohol will be served, see requirements above under ALCOHOL.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Volunteers, serving without remuneration, are covered under the Diocesan Master Insurance Program General Liability while acting under the direction and control of the parish or other insured Diocesan Master Insurance Program entity.
$1,000 of medical expense is provided for volunteers injured during their service.
No, volunteers must look to their own auto insurance for both liability and damage to the car.
